Can one transfer all of their Amazon Kindle books to a new iPad?
I am considering getting my mother an iPad for mother’s day, but she doesn’t use her Kindle 2 because she doesn’t see it too well. I figure with iPad’s zoom-in features, brightness, and colored pages, she’ll be able to use it well (as well as being able to ditch her old laptop!).
Does anyone know if one can transfer all the books she’s bought for her Kindle onto iPad, whatever they are?

Yes, there is a Kindle app for iPad, you can install it and read the Kindle books you purchased on the iPad.
For reading purpose, however, I’ll still go for the Amazon Kindle. I’ve given a detailed review and comparison between the Kindle vs iPad, in a previous answer here. Guess you’ll be interested:

Yes you can. You just need to download the free ‘Kindle’ app by Amazon on the app store and redownload them from your Amazon account.
For reading use, I think you should definitely go for the Kindle instead of iPad. You know, there is some larger fonts coming with the Kindle update this month, see here:

The iBookStore of iPad is too unmature at this moment. And there has been many users complaining that if you look into the screen of iPad for reading over an hour, your eyes will get very tired because of the backlight. See an article about this here:

Hope this helps your decision.
Yes, Kindle has an app for the iPad that will allow you to read books bought through Kindle. It seems to be a better option, considering that the Kindle library is considerably larger than Apple’s at the moment. Also, with Kindle purchases you can view the books on multiple devices (compared to only your iPad with the iBooks app).
Even so, repeatedly buying $10-15 books adds up really fast. If your mother doesn’t buy eBooks too often or has some extra cash then she should be fine. Otherwise, for future book buying you might want to consider something like this: http://myfreeipaddownloads.com/?p=8
I hope she, and all the other mothers out there, have a lovely day.
